The HYMC Crew

The Hollister Youth Media Council is a group of San Benito County teenagers who create positive media messages about their community and address issues of access to the internet and broadband. Started by CMAP in late 2011, the HYMC receives support from the ZeroDivide Foundation and the Broadband Foundation.

Cole

"I'm in 8th grade at Southside school. I get straight A's, but I like to goof off a lot. I play a lot of sports, like basketball, soccer, and water polo. A fascination of mine is flying. I study aircraft as well as the history of flying. After High School, I'm applying to get into the United States Air Force Academy and from there, the Air Force. Another of my interests is comedy. I was voted funniest in our 8th grade year book, and don't stop making jokes. That's why I love funny shows like How I Met Your Mother, Scrubbs, Friends, and The Office. I enjoy both the acting and technical sides of media, especially filming and editing. I hope to continue it for a long time."

Daniel

"My name is Daniel. I was born in Hollister on June 6, 1995. I love art and spend most of my time drawing comics. I always try to get along with most people because it's interesting to have a variety of friends. I hope one day to have created a popular cartoon, such as those that I enjoyed during my childhood.

My interest in the field of media would have to be graphic design. I joined HYMC to create videos and learn about video production. My active roles in HYMC have been cameraman, storyboard producer, and logo designer. This program has been very helpful."

Jaime

"I was born in Leon, Mexico. I love anything that has to do with media. My favorite things to work with are script writing and storyboarding. I have lots of ideas for movies, shows, and clips that I can't wait to show to the world. Outside of the studio, I like to play basketball with my friends, work on my own YouTube shows, and relax.

Josiah
"Josiah became involved with CMAP in Fall of 2010 while enrolled in Grant Richard's Humanities 3 class of Gavilan College. He needed to produce a short film for that class and did so using CMAP equipment. Josiah likes filming and editing and has volunteered on several productions such as football games, San Benito Stage Company plays and at events such as the Gilroy Garlic Festival and Member Appreciation nights. He is currently a staff member covering government meetings in Hollister and an active member of the Hollister Youth Media Council (HYMC)."

Kaleb
"My name is Kaleb. I'm 15 and live in Hollister. I like to play guitar, act, and hangout with friends. I like helping with the projects here at HYMC, learning about editing, filming with CMAP at events, and helping with the short videos we do."

Wyatt
"I am Wyatt. I am a member of the Hollister Youth Media Council. The reason I joined was because I enjoy making films and I wanted to get better at it. The kinds of videos I make are short and a sad attempt at humor. When I grow up, I want to be a game designer."

Camille

"My name is Camille. I go to Southside Elementary and live in Hollister, Ca. I love sports including soccer, volleyball, basketball, track, and cross country. I love to hang out with my friends, go on bike rides, and play with my dog, Gemma. During the summer, I love to go to the beach, Great America, and visit my friends and family. I especially like to go to Stockton to visit my family with the big acre with walnut trees and a mini river. I also play for Hollister Spirit Soccer, Impact Volleyball Club and NJB.

One reason why I am interested in video media is the filming of videos and a little bit of editing. I love to use iMovie on my laptop to make movies or videos."
